picturetotext.app converts images into text, documents and translated images. The short version: your files pass through our systems only long enough to produce your result, they are deleted automatically on a hard timer, and they are never used to train AI models.
01Your images
- Images you submit are sent over HTTPS to our server for one purpose only: running the conversion you picked. There is no other use.
- To read the text, the image is processed transiently by our AI recognition services. For goals that need language understanding (translation, study notes, invoice fields), only the extracted text — never the image — goes through the additional processing step.
- Deletion is automatic and enforced by expiry timers, not manual cleanup: the image is held for at most 30 minutes, and the job record including the extracted text expires within 2 hours.
- We never use your images or extracted text to train AI models, and no person looks at them — unless you explicitly attach them to a problem report (see below).
02What we don't store
- We keep no library of your uploads and no history of what you processed — a history feature does not exist.
- Finished files (.docx, .xlsx, .csv, images, ZIPs) are generated in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
- “Email me a copy” sends the finished file only to the email address of your signed-in account — it is not possible to type in another recipient.
03Account data
Sign-in is optional. If you sign in (Google, or a one-time email code), we keep your email address and basic profile to run your session and apply your usage limits. Anonymous use is protected by an automated bot check; anonymous rate-limit counters expire within about a day.
04Problem reports
When you report a wrong result, attaching your photo and the recognized text are two separate opt-in checkboxes, both off by default. Only what you tick is included. The report is emailed to our own inbox for a person to look at — nothing about it is stored in a database.
05Third parties
We never sell your data and never share it with advertisers or data brokers. A small set of infrastructure and AI processing services is used to run the product; each processes your content only transiently, only to return your result, and is bound to no other use. Sign-in with Google involves Google only if you choose it.
06Cookies & analytics
One session cookie when you sign in. Your browser's local storage keeps a theme preference and a visit counter (which visit this is and the day of the last one, nothing else). If you choose Continue with Google while photos are loaded, your browser keeps a copy of them on your own device so they are still there when you come back. That copy is deleted the next time you open the tool on this site, whether or not you finished signing in, and is never used after 15 minutes. We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which steps of the tool people reach (upload, goal picked, result ready, file downloaded). The same step events, with how long each step took, also go to our own usage statistics, sent to this site and kept by us for up to 180 days, together with the visit's context: the page you arrived on, the referring site, your country, screen width, how far you scrolled, the visit number from that counter and where on the page a script error happened. They are tied to a random id that ends with the browser tab, not to you, and browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control send none. Those events carry no content: never your photo, the recognized text, filenames or your email. No advertising trackers are on this site.
